A New Program Model: Snow Club

Annual Report 2021

In the winter of 2021, City Kids implemented our first ever Snow Club programming for all youth. In prior years, City Kids would facilitate occasional trips on the slopes, but now as a grantee of Vail Resort + Katz Amsterdam Foundation’s Epic for Everyone Youth Connection to Winter Sports Program, we are able take 30 youth on five trips to Whitetail Ski Resort in Mercersburg, PA, under two hours from DC.

The Epic for Everyone funding provides participating City Kids youth with free lift tickets, ski gear, transportation, ski and ride school, meals, and equipment rentals for five on-hill ski/snowboarding lessons.

This new Snow Club model is a new strategic initiative to expand our DC-based community partnerships and allows youth to build mastery in an activity that they are passionate about pursuing. Youth not only stepped out of their comfort zone and learned new skills, but they also built confidence in a new sport.

By 2025, it is our goal that 90% of City Kids youth will report feeling more competent and confident in the skills they are learning as a result of the program.

“Learning how to snowboard definitely changed my life for the better because I now have a new hobby that I love to put my time and effort into. What surprised me most was that I advanced so fast. I was able to learn the basic skills super fast and go on the more advanced slopes.”
– Osaro, First Year JET
