City Kids Gear Up for Another Exciting Summer at Broken Arrow Ranch!
On June 20th, City Kids’ cornerstone experience—summer camp at Broken Arrow Ranch—will begin as our JET Camp Leaders (JCLs) and Mountaineers (7th Graders) arrive in Jackson Hole, Wyoming! Amidst the awe-inspiring landscapes of Yellowstone’s mountain ranges, campers will embark on a profound journey of self-discovery, exploring courage, compassion, excellence, and personal empowerment.
Rangers (6th Grade) – “Be Courageous”
Session 2: 7/08/24- 7/22/24
For our newest cohort, the Rangers, the first year at camp is all about trying new things, adapting to new people and places, and seeking challenges. Summer camp often marks their first venture beyond familiar surroundings into the wilderness, where they embrace activities with a mix of excitement and apprehension. This cohort’s theme is “Be Courageous,” with key experiences including car camping in Yellowstone National Park and an overnight canoe trip at Jackson Lake.
Mountaineers (7th Grade) – “Be Compassionate”
Session 1: 6/19/24- 7/03/24
Mountaineers will focus on the theme “Be Compassionate” as they build closer relationships with peers, manage personal emotions during challenges, and support one another in achieving goals. Their adventures include a three-day overnight canoe trip on Leigh Lake and their first backpacking trip—four days in the Wind River Range!Elites (8th Grade) – “Be Excellent”
Elite (8th Grade)- “Be Excellent”
Session 3: 07/27/24- 08/13/24
Elite campers will face their most physically challenging year yet, with a five-day overnight sea kayaking trip on Yellowstone Lake and a six-day backpacking expedition. Embracing the theme “Be Excellent,” they will learn that excellence is about being hardworking and striving to become the best versions of themselves, understanding that failure is an essential stepping stone towards growth.
Leadership (9th Grade) – “Find Your Personal Power”
Session 3: 07/27/24- 08/13/24
Our 9th graders, the Leadership campers, will broaden their horizons through trips with partner organizations like NOLS and Rendezvous River Sports, and participate in social justice workshops. In their final camper year before graduating to become a City Kid JET (10th-12th grades), they will undertake a transformative 24-hour solo journey to unearth their core values and forge a deeper connection with the world around them. This summer, Leadership campers will focus on finding their personal power and harnessing their unique talents and values to engage with the world.
JETs (10th-12th Grade) – “Create Your Vision”
For our JETs, many adventures await in Wyoming! They will be flying out for different periods this summer as they have the opportunity to work as Junior Camp Leaders, participate in internship sessions, or embark on challenging outdoor adventures with partner organizations. Between three to five JETs will even have the opportunity to climb the Grand Teton in late July!
We eagerly anticipate another summer filled with memories and achievements in Jackson. Stay tuned for updates on our adventures by following us on Instagram and Facebook!
