Celebrating 30 Years and 30 Stories

As we celebrate 30 years of City Kids during Black History Month, we’re honoring the young people who shaped our story — year by year, voice by voice.

From our earliest participants in 1996 to the youth leading the way in 2025, each cohort has left its mark on this community. Their stories reflect courage, joy, growth, friendship, and the power of access to the outdoors.

This collection spotlights one participant from every year of City Kids’ history, 30 stories that together tell a much bigger one.
